Education Minister, Prof Adamu Adamu
The Federal Government has ordered that all unity schools in the country be reopened by October 12, 2020.
This was disclosed by the minister of education, Prof. Adamu Adamu during a press briefing with newsmen in Abuja and made available in a document at the Ministry's official Twitter handle @NigEducation.
"Consequently, after due consultation with the presidential Committee on COVID-19, we have decided that all our 104 Unity Colleges should reopen on the 12th of October, 2020", the document read in part.
The resumption date however does not affect the state and private owned institutions as according to him, "States and private school owners will work out modalities for the opening of schools under their purview".
The minister stressed government's Commitment at ensuring that all institutions both public and private are complying with all the Covid-19 safety guidelines as prescribed by authorities. The document is boldly titled: "BE STRICT AND RIGID ON COVID-19 PROTOCOLS AS WE REOPEN SCHOOLS".
This is coming a day after the State government of Osun ordered that all markets and places of worship should resume full operations.
It will be recalled that on March 20th, 2020, the Federal Government, in a bid to cub the spread of the Corona Virus pandemic, ordered that all educational institutions be closed until further notice.
