The Federal Government on Monday announced its resolve to review the earlier pronounced 18th of January, 2021 as the resumption date for schools across the country.
This was contained in a statement made by the Honorable Minister of Education, Prof. Adamu Adamu during a briefing of the Presidential Task Force(PTF) on Covid-19.
According to the minister, a rethink on the resumption date for schools earlier communicated becomes imperative given the alarming figures of the second wave Covid-19 cases.
"Today at the PTF meeting, we looked at the rising figures and decided that probably we should take another look at the date. The January 18 resumption date is not sacrosanct as it is subject to constant review in a view of prevailing epidemiological circumstances", the minister said, adding that the Ministry of education would do the needful subsequently.
"Tomorrow, the ministry is going to take it up. So, most likely it is going to be reviewed", he said.
