President Muhamadu Buhari has expressed grief over the death of The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and ten other military officers killed in a plane crash on Friday.
President Buhari in a condolence message addressed to the families of the deceased, the military and the entire nation, as disclosed by His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina described the death of the officers as as a mortal blow to the nation's underbelly at this trying times.
According to Mr. Adesina, the President described the departed officers as “heroes who paid the ultimate price for peace and security in the land" and prayed that God repose their souls.
The ifficers met their unfortunate end when an ill-fated Jet they were flying in crashlanded at the Kaduna Airport runway killing all the 12 occupants.
Confirming the incident earlier in a tweet @NigAirForce, the Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet said the immediate cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained.
Leiutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru was appointed by President Muhamadu Buhari as the 25th Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army on the 26th of January, 2021 succeeding Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.
