The project, an 8.1km road which was first constructed with stone-base in 1976, 45 Years ago before Governor Oyetola's intervention is a strategic economic and infrastructural masterpiece linking four out of the seven major original communities (The Origbo Meje) that make up the entire Local Government, though now six with the defunct of Isope to Ife, the urban centre. The other two being Akinlalu and Edunabon.
Speaking during the commissioning of the road, the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba Joseph Olugbenga Oloyede Latimogun I, appreciated Oyetola for the reconstruction, adding that it has addressed the plight of farmers, among its numerous implications.
“We thank Governor Oyetola for this road. We are largely farmers in this environment, and the implication of this road is that it has significantly eased the plight of farmers.
With Governor Oyetola, we are not suffering because he has given us what is due to us”, Apetumodu said.
A former Nigerian Chief of Defense Staff, General Akani Akinrinade (rtd), also commended Governor Oyetola for his developmental interventions in the local government and in the State at large.
“We thank the Governor for his exceptional governance style. We are not just thanking him for the Moro-Yakoyo-Ipetumodu-Asipa-Ife Road alone, but for access to qualitative healthcare. Now, we don’t have to go far to access healthcare, and this for us is a major intervention.
“Everyone can attest to the fact that there is no money in town, everywhere is dry, but this man is attending to critical developmental issues in the State. So, this is the kind of leader we need again and again in Osun to help us manage our little resources to ensure that we do not suffer. So, let us support him with full commitment”, Akinrinade said.
Member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Ife North Local Government Area and also the Chief Whip of the State Legislative House, Honourable Tunde Olatunji, who described the road as the biggest capital project in the history of Ife North State Constituency, saluted Oyetola for earning his place in history.
“Today is a day of joy because what we are doing here is unprecedented in Ife North. This is the biggest capital project in the history of this constituency costing about One Billion Naira.
“It is a celebration of transformation that we are having in the State of Osun. Within 940 days, Governor Oyetola has constructed several roads, revitalised 332 Primary Health Centres, paid full salaries to workers across every cadre, paid over 35 Billion Naira as pension arrears to retirees, and transformed the State completely.
“We, of Ife North, are not ungrateful people. We are looking forward to the next 521 days, when we will celebrate Governor Oyetola’s inauguration again as the governor of our dear State. He has earned his place in history, and we are affirming that we are with you because we are lucky, blessed and honoured to have you”, Olatunji said.
In his remarks, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola promised that consideration will be given to road leading to Akinlalu community at the other extreme of the project.
