45th Convocation: OAU Remains An Exceptional Intellectual Environment - Ooni

The Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II on Sunday said that the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is one of the institutions of higher learning across African continent that remain committed to championing academic excellence.

Ooni Ogunwusi was among the prominent figures who graced the 45th convocation and awards ceremony of the prestigious institution on Saturday which also coincided with her Diamond Jubilee Anniversary.

Taking to his verified Facebook page @ooniadimulaife, the foremost traditional ruler who was confered with a Honorary Doctor of Letters (Honoraris Causa) at the occasion appreciated the University management for counting him worthy for such a great honor.

The Ooni while congratulating the graduands expressed confidence in the quality of their various trainings and certifications, noting that their "awards are rewards" for their hardwork and determination for success in the face of daunting challenges.

"Yesterday at the 45th convocation ceremony at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), I was conferred with the Doctor of Letters (Honoraris Causa) PhD. 

"It was indeed a remarkable and humbling experience for me as Obafemi Awolowo University amongst other tertiary institutions in Africa and across the world remains an exceptional intellectual environment that is endowed with scientific agelong knowledge which is still unleashing new pedagogical engagement with its students and global society. 

"To all graduands, your academic honours and achievements are well and profoundly deserved. Evidently and despite some identified challenges in our educational culture, you didn't deter in your ambition. Your awards are rewards of many years of burning candles and lightning of your spirits to push through all barriers.", the statement read in part.

Ooni in the post further extended felicitations to the Business Mogul and also a recipient of a Honorary Doctorate Degree In Business Administration at the occasion, Chief Michael Ade Ojo, Chairman of Elizade Group of Companies and Founder of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.

"Heartiest congratulations to our distinguished and indefatigable Chief Mike Ade-Ojo on being conferred with the doctoral award (Honoris Causa). Your endeavors to shaping our educational status as a nation through the formation and transformation of Elizade University must be unreservedly applauded. You are indeed a beacon of hope to our future generations.", Ooni added.
