OAU's Best 'Diamond' Graduating Student: "It Was A Rain Of Prizes And Awards" - Father

Ohanekwu Favour Ebuka of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife was announced the overall best graduating student of the institution at her 45th Convocation having scored a Cumulative Grade Points Average(CGPA) of 4.88.

His father, Bishop Uzomaka Ohanekwu had, upon Ebuka's pronouncement as Number One OAU graduate of the year took to social media to share the son's success. He described his experience at the convocation as a rain of prizes and awards.

"It was wonderful yesterday at the Obafemi Awolowo university convocation as my son Ohanekwu Favour Ebuka finished as the overall best graduating student with the CGPA of 4.88. It was a rain of prizes and awards. The best overall graduating student award. Faulty of technology best student award. Department of electrical and electronics engineering best student award. The best male engineer of the department and 3 others. Dedicated to the almighty God who made it possible" the father wrote.

As a reward for his outstanding performance, the gifted young man was awarded with a cash prize to the sum of 100,000 naira by the University in addition to the several awards to his purse.

The 45th convocation ceremony of the prestigious institution coincided with her 60th Diamond Jubilee anniversary thereby adding an extra glamour to the occasion.

The grand finale held at the magnificent Amphitheatre of the institution on Saturday 11th of December, 2021 was well attended by dignitaries and top government officials including Nigerian Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who represented the Visitor to the university, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR; Ondo State Governor who also delivered the convocation lecture, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, the Osun State Governor His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji(Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar among others.

The Ooni of Ife His Imperial Majesty Ooni(Dr) Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi Ojaja II was awarded with Honorary Doctor of Letters alongside the Business Mogul Chief Michael Ade Ojo, Chairman Elizade Group of Companies who was awarded a Honorary Doctor of Business Administration.
