The US State Department says it is adding an additional $20 to the price of the Country's Passport books for all customers with effect from Monday December 27, 2021.
The Department announced this in a tweet on Friday, citing the need to sustain the production of quality and secured travel document as reason for the price hike.
“The increased fee is necessary to ensure we continue to produce one of the most secure travel and identity documents in the world.”, The statement read in part.
The fees collected for processing passport applications by the Clerk's Office as well as the fees for passport cards issuance are however unchanged.
