Members of the St. John's Grammar School's Old Boys Association, on Monday kicked of activities marking the 60th anniversary of their Alma Mata with sanitation.
The Publicity Secretary of the Association, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan who led current students of the school to the ancient Ile Oodua Palace of the Ooni of Ife and the popular Ajifowobaje Obaloran market, for cleaning, explained that the activity is in line with Yoruba's culture of environmental sanitation ahead of all engagements.
Receiving the celebrants on behalf of the Ooni of Ife, the Owajesi of Ife, High-Chief Idowu Awotifaju, noted that St. John's Grammar school is an historic citadel of learning in the Kingdom of Ife.
Similarly, the Otun Iyaloja of Ajifowobaje Obaloran market, Mrs. Moriatu Rasheed, who prayed for the team fervently, thanked the Old Boys Association for providing needed mentorship for the younger ones.
Addressing newsmen after the exercise, Principal of the school, Dr. Orasakin Safiriyu thanked the Old Boys for standing with the students as well as Management of the school at all times.
"These Old Boys Association is different and I am proud of their activities, they have built structures, supplied learning materials and other things for the development of the school and education at large." The Principal said.

The programme continues with Literacy/Inter and Intra Class Debating Competition on Tuesday, while Wednesday would be for the conclusion of Academic Activities and Award of prizes and sporting activities to deserving students.
On Thursday, courtesy visits to the Governor of Osun State, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Grand Patron and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
Friday would entails motivational Lectures Series by 7 identified Old Boys’ and 1967-71 sets; and presentation of award to old teachers of the school and Jumat Service between 3:00 - 6:00 pm.
The Grand-Finale would come-up on Saturday with inauguration of projects by the Grand Patron, Launching of Book and Presentation of award and prizes, 1967/71 Set among others at the school hall.
