Her son, Prince Charles has paid the 95-Old a tribute on the Platinum Jubilee Anniversary celebrations, saying her devotion continues to inspire with each passing year.
The Queen who ascended the throne on February 6, 1952, following the death of her father, King George VI, at the age of 56 however used the the occasion of the iconic celebrations to make a royal bombshell, expressing her wish that Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall becomes Queen Consort when her heir to the throne Prince Charles is enthroned as the King.
"I would like to express my thanks to you all for your support. I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection that you continue to give me.
"And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.", the Queen said in her anniversary message.
Prince Charles and Camilla wedded on April 9, 2005 at a civil ceremony held at Guildhall in Windsor with a blessing at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, following Prince Charles divorce with his former wife Princess Diana in 1996.
