Ooni To Host Yoruba Sons And Daughters In Ile-Ife At The 4th World Omoluabi Day

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II will on Sunday May 1st, 2022 welcome Yoruba Sons and daughters across the globe to the ancient city of Ile-Ife for the fourth edition of the World Omoluabi Day.

Speaking through his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare at a press conference in Ile-Ife ahead of the forthcoming event, the Ooni said his stool will continue to champion the cause of unity and unification among the Yoruba race worldwide.

"We will continue to do what we have always done. Ooni has always preached peace. He has always preached unity and unification of all descendants of Oduduwa. He has always preached and worked for the progress of the race and we see the festival as another avenue through which His Majesty can further champion this cause.

"He will do everything humanly possible to even do more than what he has been doing before to ensure that the event becomes a success", Olafare said.

In his remark, the global president of the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide, Aare Barr. Oladotun Hassan, noted that the idea behind the annual event is the promotion of the Yoruba concept of Omoluabi and its core values of integrity, hardwork, perseverance and sincerity.

Further to this, Aare Hassan noted, is the creation of an avenue for addressing critical issues of development affecting Yoruba people in particular and the nation in general.

The 2022 edition of the event tagged "Isokan Yoruba 2022", he added will feature lectures centred around the issues of security and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians as he noted that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as well as governors of the Southwest are among the expected dignitaries at the occasion.

The event according to him will also feature the conferment of the Omoluabi Royal Icon(ORI) Awards to deserving sons and daughters of Oduduwa.

"In Yorubaland, what we define as Omoluabi is integrity, hardwork, perseverance and sincerity. We have a philosophy on every edition of this festival and that is for us to use the opportunity to address critical issues of national development of which this Year's edition will not be an exception.", he said
