Olojo Festival is an annual cultural event celebrated in the ancient Yoruba city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Southwest, Nigeria.
It is an occasion held in celebration of the "Ojo ti Ojo di jo" which literally means the day of the first dawn, believed to had been first experienced in the historical city. It is also an event celebrating Ogun, the god of iron.
The 2022 edition of the renowned festival has been scheduled to hold from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th September, 2022.
The four-day event whose theme has been "African Continental Free Trade Area: Showcasing Domestic Tourism With Olojo Festival", will according to a media release by the organizers, feature an array of ceremonial activities.
The day one, September 23rd is the Ojo Ilagun which is manifested in the Iwode, a community cleansing rite. The day will also feature a terrestrial message from the Ooni, His Imperial Majesty, the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II to the people of Ile-Ife and to the world. Ooni's Adire Hub Fiesta, a showcase of the City's indigenous local fabrics, the Adire Oodua will also feature prominently.
Day two, September 24th is the Festival Grand Finale known as the Ojo Okemogun, which will feature the Aare cultural procession and the Ojaja Grand Resort Musical Concert.
Day three, September 25th is the Ojo Ajoyo or Asekagba on which the Ooni's Grand Royal invitational reception will hold.
Day four, September 26th is Ojo Ibile, the Oonirisa's ancestral traditional propitiation as well as a cultural talent hunt.
