More than 165 people within the Ife Federal Constituency have been empowered through a training in soap and bead making at a skills acquisition workshop organised by the Nigerian Press Council and the Border Community Development Agency.
The workshop which was fully sponsored by the Member representing Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, was aimed at equipping participants to create jobs and be self-employed to support themselves and their immediate families.
The Honourable lawmaker who was represented by his aide, Arewa Oluwaseun, implored participants to take every single aspects of the training seriously and implement what they had learned to benefit themselves and by extension, the society.
“We have realised a certain skill deficit between the formal and informal educational economy in the constituency. Notwithstanding our sponsorship efforts in the formal sector, we realised that not everybody could make it to the university, hence we have decided to continually provide employable skills to support their lives. This again will be one of the many trainings and empowerment programs as part of our pact for to our fantastic constituents,” as we have donce since assuming office he noted.
The program consultant, in her remarks, expressed appreciation to Hon Ajilesoro and his office for agreeing to partner with her organization on the life-changing project.
She advised the participants to take advantage of such programs, which will change their lives for good.
In addition to the training, each of the participants, it was gathered, also received start up stipends courtesy of the lawmaker.
