Pockets of election violence were on Saturday recorded in Ile-Ife, at the ongoing State House of Assembly election.
As of press time, reports of hoodlums invading polling units and destroying voting materials have been received at two different locations.
At Ile Oga Unit in Ilare Ward, hoodlums were reported to have stormed the location and disrupted voting process including smashing of ballot boxes and papers.
Similar occurrence was also recorded at Obalejugbe Unit 010, Iremo Ward 5 where violence was equally unleased at voters and electoral officials forcing them to scamper for safety.
Series of reports of violence had been reported at different locations prior to the Saturday election, a situation the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja responded to by inviting political stakeholders in the community to a peace meeting at his palace on Friday.
