Wife of the Ooni of Ife, Her Royal Majesty, Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi on Friday in Ile-Ife delivered a talk of the town second edition of the Annual Ayan Agalu Festival.
The event jointly organised by the renowned Olori's Queen Moremi Ajasoro(QMA) International Initiative and the House of Oduduwa was in its entirety an impressive showcase of the Yoruba cultural heritage.
Held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the spacious Ojaja Arena inside Ife Grand Resorts and Industrial Hub, Ile-Ife, the epoch event was a highly spectacular gathering of traditional drummers, cultural entertainers and tourists from within and outside the country.
A rather unique aspect of the event which was more worthy of note was the way Olori Aderonke Ogunwusi employed her creative ingenuity to blend fashion with culture and modernity.
Powered by her Adire Oodua Textile Hub, Ile-Ife, Olori Aderonke blew the mind of everyone present with an impressive Adire Oodua AyanAgalu Catwalk, a type rarely found elsewhere.
Speaking at the event themed, "Drumming and its Socio Semiotic Values Among the Yoruba People", Olori Aderonke who equally is the Global Ambassador of the Ayan Agalu Festival, emphasised the relevance of Ayans generally in our society and why it is important to celebrate them.
She said, "Apart from their integral role in yoruba cultural promotion, the drummers also contribute immensely to the sustenance of moral and ethical values in the society.
"Drumming from times past have proven to be an effective tool employed to instruct, educate and trigger desired positive behaviours from individuals or groups. This among other reasons have prompted my husband, the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife to champion the cause of celebrating drummers globally through the Ayan Agalu Festival initiative.
In his remark, the Ooni of Ife, Arole Odududwa, appreciated all the participants, brand and individual partners as well as prominent figures present at the occasion for their support.
The Ooni then emphasised the need for sustained collaborations to ensure that the yoruba cultural ideals and values are kept alive.
The event which featured very prominently cultural competitions, seminars and drum circle, had in attendance eminent personalities and cultural promoters of international repute including ECOWAS Youth Ambassador and Oluase Olokun, Amb (Dr) Yeye Lara Fashola; the Sooko Laekun, Prince Adegboyega Ogunwusi; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Infogem Limited, Chief Ayodele Michael Olumoko; Veteran Nollywood Actor and Scholar, Chief Peter Fatomilola; among others.
