Gridlock in Lagos as NLC Begins Protest Against Subsidy Rmoval

The Nigeria Labour Congress on Wednesday commenced its planned protest against subsidy removal in Lagos State, Abuja ans Kano.

Protesters which had among them presidential candidate for African Action Congress in the 2023 General Elections, Omowole Sowore, gathered under-bridge at Ikeja earlier in the morning and marched to the state House of Assembly leading to a gridlock in the area.

The NLC is asking the Federal Government to “immediately deal decisively with the criminal content of subsidy instead of exposing ordinary citizens to avoidable pain and hardship.”

President Tinubu had on May 29, during his inauguration, announced the removal of subsidy on petrol, a development that has caused hardship for many Nigerians with its attendant increase in the prices of goods and services.
