OAU Loses Lecturer as the University Grieves | ICB News


The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is currently in grief over the death of a lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the College of Health Sciences of the institution; Late Prof Olabisi Loto.

The University in a statement made available on its official Twitter handle on Thursday expressed condolences with the family of the deceased.

"Our condolences to the family of our late Professor."

The College of Health Sciences had earlier in a statement by the Provost, Professor Babatope A. Kolawole, announced the passing of the late don.

"The College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with a deep sense of loss, announces the transition of Professor Olabisi M. Loto (MB.ChB., M.ScM.D., FWACS, FMCOG, cert. ART) of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatology, whose sad event occurred on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, following a brief illness.

"He would be remembered for his selfless service to the College, the university, and the Community. We condole with the O&G family, the Faculty, and his friends and colleagues in academia.It is our prayer that the good Lord will comfort us all and grant his family the fortitude to bear this colossal loss.

May God's infinite mercies keep us all.", the statement read.
