Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke says a total of N8,572,152,849.05 has been released for payment of retirement benefits of retirees in the state over the last nine months of assuming office.
The Governor stated this on Thursday in Osogbo the state capital at the official presentation of another batch of bond certificates to participants in the contributory pension scheme in the state.
Presenting the certificate, the Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing pensioners' welfare in the state.
He noted that his administration is working out modalities for enrolling pensioners in the state health insurance scheme and other options that will improve their overall welfare.
"This afternoon, we presented another batch of bond certificates to contributory pensioners in Osun State. From the inception of our administration to date, a total of N8,572,152,849.05 has been released for payment of pensions, gratuity and accrued right benefits for retirees.
"Our administration is experimenting various options that can reduce the cost of survival for pensioners. We are working to enrol pensioners in the state health insurance scheme to meet their health cost. I reassured them that we are committed to addressing pensioners' welfare.", the Governor said.
