The management of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has announced that the institution's 47th Convocation Ceremony will hold from Wednesday, 6th to Saturday, 9th December, 2023.
The institution has also unveiled some of its distinguished alumni to be celebrated at the ceremony including the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; President of the Africa Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina; CEO of MTN Nigeria, Mr. Karl Toriola; Professor of Security and Development at King's College, London, Funmi Olonisakin, among others.
Announcing the date of the ceremony earlier in a release, the Chairman of the University Ceremonials Committee, Professor Charles Ukeje, further detailed the procedure for vehicular access into the university during the four days event.
"This is to inform ALL members of the University Community that the 47th Convocation Ceremony is scheduled to hold from Wednesday, 6th to Saturday, 9th of December 2023.
"During the period, vehicular movement in and out of the Campus will be restricted. In this regard, please note that only staff members with the University car sticker will be allowed unhindered.
"Staff members without University car stickers would have to pay the stipulated five hundred naira (#500) cash to gain access to the Campus during this period. We advise members without staff car stickers to use the period between now and the above dates to go and process their car stickers. Thank you.", the statement read.
