The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II has described the naming of some newly commissioned landmark projects on the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife after the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu as a show of appreciation for her relentless commitment to humanitarian service.

"These events reflect our shared commitment to progress for our community and nation. Her Excellency’s journey from a student at Obafemi Awolowo University over 41 years ago to a national leader is inspiring.

"She has consistently championed the rights of women and children across Nigeria, advocating for gender equality, education, and social welfare.

"Her support for entrepreneurial programs has fostered a new generation of female leaders, contributing to national development.", the Ooni said.

The monarch urged all leaders to emulate the good works and qualities of the First Lady, noting that the country needs more people like her at the moment to thrive.

"Like Her Excellency, I urge all leaders to serve Nigeria with integrity, compassion, and patriotism.

"Our nation requires socio-economic initiatives that reach all corners, and it is our duty to be sources of hope and strength in shaping Nigeria’s future.", Ooni added.

Earlier in his speech, The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire, noted that Sen Oluremi Tinubu has made history as the First Nigerian First Lady ever to visit the institution in its 63 years of existence.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked the First Lady for her presence while also extending appreciation to the Ooni for his thoughtfulness in relation to the needs and aspirations of the great citadel of learning.

He added the OJAJA Hotel will in particular help to address hostel accommodation deficit on the campus.

The First Lady in her acceptance speech expressed appreciation to the Ooni for the honor and recognition of her efforts in impacting lives.

She urged citizens to exercise patience with the present administration led by her husband President Bola Tinubu, noting that the nation will soon smile.

In her kind gesture, First Lady Tinubu donated a sum of One Billion Naira to the University for landscaping and beautification of the great citadel of learning and her Alma Mater known as the Africa's Most Beautiful Campus.
