The 2024 Edition of the Queen Moremi Ajasoro Cultural And Leadership Pageant was on Monday kick-started with the first phase of audition for contestants held at the palace of the Ooni of Ife in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.
The Queen of Ile-Ife and the convener of the programme, HRM Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi in her opening remarks, said the QMA is an initiative of His Imperial Majesty, Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife for the purpose of empowering young women in the country using the story of the Legendary Queen Moremi of Ile-Ife.
According to her, the eight edition has been themed "Iwalewa: The Law of Creative Self Culture" to remind women and aspiring leaders of the importance of having good character and charisma in addition to beauty.
She added that the project founded upon the story of the Ile-Ife legendary Queen and heroine is particularly being used by the revered monarch to send a strong message of inspiration to young females out there that they can be whatever they want to be in life with the right supports like the ones being accessed through the QMA initiative.
Oori Aderonke while welcoming the participants to the ancient city of Ile-Ife, the cradle of the Yoruba race urged protective winners to utilise their prizes judiciously as the only way so sustain His Majesty's laudable visions and objectives for the programme.
The second and concluding phase of the audition being handled by seasoned cultural experts and prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry including Nollywood stars Rose Odika, Sola Kosoko, Jaiye Kuti, Yinka Salau, among others, holds Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 at the same venue.
The audition will be followed by a week bootcamp for successful candidates during which they will undergo series of cultural and leadership training before the grand finale slated for Sunday, November 24th, 2024 at the Ojaja Arena, Ife Grand Resorts, Ibadan Road, Ile-Ife.
The Queen Moremi Ajasoro Pageant is held during the Edi Festival in Ile-Ife, an an annual event commemorating the heroic deeds of the Queen who through her beauty, ingenuity and bravery was able to liberate the people of Ile-Ife from their marauding enemies and captors during her time.
