No fewer than 1,500 fresh students have been matriculated into Foreign Links Campus for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This was disclosed by the institution's Provost, Dr. Nsikak Akpan, during the matriculation ceremony held on Tuesday at the Moro Campus, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State.
Dr. Akpan congratulated the students on their admission, urging them to seize the opportunity wisely, as "opportunity comes but once." He emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and loyalty to the school authorities, advising the students to focus on their studies and avoid vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, and other forms of misconduct.
"What is worth doing at all is worth doing well," he said. "You need to be serious in your studies, as your future lies in your hands. If there’s destruction in the education sector, there will be national destruction because education is the bedrock of any nation."
A member of the institution’s Governing Council, Prof. Fakunle, commended the founder, Dr. Fola Akinosun, for prioritizing education as a legacy. He congratulated the freshers and encouraged them to remain disciplined, focused, and determined in their pursuit of academic excellence.
He remarked, "Quality education is not easy to acquire, but it makes you invaluable. With the skills you gain here, you can graduate as a ‘hot cake,’ ready for global opportunities."
The Olu of Saga, Oba Ojeyinka Oladejo (Operomade I), praised the institution’s founder for providing sound education and scholarship opportunities. He urged the students to uphold good character and avoid negative peer influences, reminding them to "remember the children of whom you are."
Similarly, retired Permanent Secretary Mr. Folorunsho Alao appealed to the students to be good ambassadors of the school, their families, and society at large. "Your primary assignment here is your studies," he said. "Determination and hard work will lead you to achieve your goals and objectives in life."
The institution’s President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Fola Akinosun, reaffirmed the school’s commitment to producing world-class graduates. "We are committed to training you to be the best in Nigeria and beyond," he said. He expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for approving the "Family Healthcare Technology" program, which facilitated the admission of midwives into the institution.
Dr. Akinosun described the program as the first of its kind in Nigeria, noting its potential to transform the lives of the students from mere job seekers to professionals equipped for global opportunities. He promised to support midwives admitted through scholarships with the necessary tools and facilities after graduation.
The ceremony also included the matriculation of students from the College of Education (affiliated with Ambrose Alli University), the College of Health Technology, and the College of Family Healthcare Technology.
