NGO Distributes Writing Materials to Students in Osun

The Lady Rose Ufuoma Umukoro Humanitarian Foundation, founded by Mrs. Rose Umukoro, has distributed writing materials to primary and secondary school students in Edunabon. The foundation also donated Christmas gifts to widows and the aged.

The distribution took place at Ife North West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Edunabon, on Friday. Mrs. Umukoro, who has been assisting students, widows, and the aged for 40 years, said she was doing so to sustain the humanitarian works of her philanthropic mother.

"I'm giving out not because I'm rich, nor because the beneficiaries are poor, but to fulfill God's word, which says, 'Give, and it shall be given unto you,'" she said. "I'll continue assisting students, widows, and the aged as long as God blesses me."

Mrs. Umukoro urged parents to train their children in the way of the Lord and academically, saying, "Education is the best legacy they can give to their wards." She also advised teachers to be gentle with students, while encouraging students to be obedient, respectful, punctual, and focused on their studies.

The Salu of Edunabon, Oba Adesoji Oladepo, commended Mrs. Umukoro for launching her foundation in Edunabon. He called on stakeholders and indigenes to come together to develop the town, particularly in caring for children, who are "the glory of the nation."

The Local Inspector of Education, Ife North, Mrs. Funmilayo Awotipe, appreciated Mrs. Umukoro's generosity towards the students. She commended Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun for his efforts to improve education in the state.

A total of 1,500 notebooks were distributed to primary and secondary school students.
