Focus on Ido-Osun's Development, Ooni of Ife Tells New Olojudo


The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has urged the newly installed King of Ido-Osun Alayemore, His Royal Majesty Oba Ishola Olayinka Oyetunde Jokotola II, to prioritize the development of Ido-Osun during a courtesy visit to the Ile-Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife on Friday.

Accompanied by his wife and key members of his cabinet, Oba Jokotola acknowledged the Ooni’s pivotal role in fostering unity among the Yoruba race and advancing Ile-Ife’s status as the cradle of Yoruba civilization.

The Olojudo also sought the Ooni’s support in enhancing the development of Ido-Osun, describing it as a vital Yoruba town.

In his response, the Ooni urged the new monarch to focus on initiatives that would ensure the growth and progress of Ido-Osun. "Your focus should be on ensuring the growth of your town. Avoid discrimination and give priority to initiatives that will enhance the town’s progress," the Ooni advised.

Reflecting on the late Alayemore, the Ooni described him as a great companion, deeply committed to the progress and development of Ile-Ife the Source while expressing optimism that the new monarch will also be a partner in progress.

The visit coincided with the ongoing World Obatala Festival, a two-week celebration of Yoruba culture, heritage, and spirituality in Ile-Ife.

Oba Jokotola II was officially appointed as the Olojudo of Ido-Osun by the Osun State Executive Council on November 29, 2024, succeeding the late Oba Aderemi Adedapo.

The Council charged him to "work towards the peace and progress of Ido-Osun and Osun State at large."
