Ghana: Ooni of Ife Celebrates Unity and Progress at President Mahama’s Inauguration

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, joined leaders and dignitaries across the continent in celebrating the inauguration of Ghana’s new president, His Excellency (H.E) John Mahama.

The event marked a historic milestone, symbolizing not only a transition of leadership but also a renewed commitment to unity and prosperity in Africa.

During his visit, the Ooni met with the Ga Mantse (King of the Ga). The Ga people, indigenous to Accra, trace their origins back to Ile Ife.

In his remarks, the Ooni expressed profound honor and delight in witnessing the ceremony, emphasizing the enduring bond between Ghana and the Kingdom of Ife—a relationship rooted in ancestral ties and strengthened through generations of shared history.

“This inauguration is more than a ceremonial transition; it is a beacon of unity, prosperity, and the shared aspiration for One Africa—the Africa we want,” the Ooni declared, urging all Africans to embrace the vision of a borderless continent.

He highlighted the need for fostering trade, investment, and cultural integration to empower the youth and pave the way for a brighter future.

The revered monarch called on Africans to unite in building an era defined by peace, growth, and endless possibilities. His passionate words serve as a rallying cry for renewed dedication to the ideals of Pan-Africanism.

The Ooni concluded with a heartfelt blessing for the nations involved: “Long live the Kingdom of Ife! Long live Ghana! Long live Africa!”

This memorable occasion not only celebrated Ghana’s new leadership but also underscored the significance of unity and collaboration in achieving the continent’s collective aspirations.
