This declaration was made during a press conference held on Wednesday in Moro, Ife North West Local Council Development Authority (LCDA).
Speaking at the event, the Molaage of Moro, Chief Adeyemi Adeagbo, stated that all Kingmakers were present during the selection process.
Adeagbo emphasized that Moro now has an Olumoro-elect, pending approval from the state government and the announcement of an installation date when the staff of office will be officially handed over.
He also assured that there is peaceful coexistence in the community and that commercial activities remain unaffected.
Similarly, the Omoloju of Moro, Chief Oluyinka Olanrewaju, clarified that Yoruba culture does not accommodate the concept of an acting royal father in Ile-Ife and its environs. He criticized the Oosa of Moro, Chief Abidemi Abidoye, for claiming to be the acting Olumoro despite the selection of the Olumoro-elect.
He explained that while the concept of a regent may exist in Ekiti and Ondo states, it is not practiced in Ife and its surroundings.
Chief Olanrewaju further stated that only the Kingmakers are authorized to select the Olumoro. He warned Chief Abidoye to stop parading himself as the acting Olumoro, threatening legal action if the behavior continues.
In his remarks, Prince Olasunmboye Jinadu, Secretary of the Arowosilejoye House, commended the Kingmakers for their fairness and equity in the selection process.
Hon. Oyeyemi Bamgboye, Secretary of the Arowoeledejoye House, also praised the Kingmakers for their decision and the people of Moro for maintaining peace.
He joined the call for Chief Abidoye to desist from announcing himself as the acting Olumoro, describing it as a cultural taboo in the traditional heritage of Ife and its environs.
