The Obajio of Moore, Oba Yaya Elugbaju, has dissociated himself and the Moore people from the alleged self-crowning of Yaya Obawole as the Oba of Oke-Ora.
He reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Moore community for His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, in his mission to develop Ifeland and the Yoruba race at large.
Oba Elugbaju made this statement at his palace in the Ijio area of Ile-Ife on Tuesday, condemning the actions of Yaya Obawole, who reportedly crowned himself as Oba of Oke-Ora at the Oranfe Shrine.
He emphasized that the entire Moore community disapproves of this act and stands firmly aligned with the supreme authority of the Ooni of Ife.
In his remarks, the Arode of Ife, High Chief Kayode Awofiranye, reaffirmed that Moore has always been under the authority of the Ooni and would never oppose his decisions.
Awofiranye clarified that the people of Moore were neither involved in nor aware of Yaya Obawole’s self-proclamation. He also praised Oba Yaya Elugbaju for his leadership and dedication to ensuring peace and unity within Moore.
Similarly, the Loodoko of Moore Agbada, Chief Akeem Olaobaju, emphasized that the Moore community has not yet selected a rightful candidate for the position of Oba of Oke-Ora. He described the proposed peace meeting as critical for the growth and development of both Moore and Oke-Ora.
Chief Olaobaju criticized Yaya Obawole’s actions and assured the public that when the time is right, the Moore people, through the Obajio, will formally announce their chosen candidate for the position of Oba of Oke-Ora.
What Yaya Obawole did is unwise
