The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, joined religious leaders, workers, and traditional rulers at the Osun Annual Inter-Religious New Year Prayer Session held on Thursday at the State Government Secretariat, Abere.
The event, marked by cycles of fervent prayers and endorsements, was highlighted by the Ooni’s message of unity and divine blessings. Praising Governor Adeleke’s achievements, the revered monarch described the Governor’s leadership as a symbol of progress and development for the state.
“Only a clean heart dances. Where they dance, good things happen. Great things are happening to Osun, and we are all rejoicing,” the Ooni remarked while leading a special prayer for divine protection and empowerment for Governor Adeleke and his administration.
The Ooni, alongside prominent figures like Sheikh Musa Animasahun, President of the League of Imams and Alfas, and Comrade Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo, Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in Osun State, reiterated their support for Governor Adeleke’s second term bid. They emphasized his commitment to governance that prioritizes the people’s welfare and state development.
Addressing attendees, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude to religious leaders, traditional rulers, and workers for their unwavering support and prayers. He reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people with integrity and humility, emphasizing the divine guidance that has shaped his administration’s policies.
“Our prayers were answered fully by Almighty God as, at every moment of the way, our government puts God and the people as the point of take-off and return,” Governor Adeleke stated.
He outlined his administration’s achievements over the past year, highlighting pro-people policies, infrastructure development, and improved welfare for workers and pensioners. The Governor also assured the public of his continued focus on both hard and soft infrastructure upgrades, including care for women, youth, and children.
“In 2025 and beyond, we will not be found wanting in service delivery. The state care for the young, the old, women, youth, and children will continue on a strong note. We will continue to pursue pro-people policies and programs,” he affirmed.
Governor Adeleke called on leaders and stakeholders to join hands with his administration in the quest for good governance, promising to uphold democracy, due process, and the fear of God in state affairs.
The prayer session ended with a strong declaration of support for Governor Adeleke from religious and traditional leaders, market women, and civil servants, setting a hopeful tone for Osun’s progress in 2025.
