In a heartfelt Eid message to the nation, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, resilience, and the values of sacrifice as they mark the sacred Muslim holiday.
The revered monarch emphasized the importance of reflection, gratitude, and unwavering hope for a brighter future, highlighting these as essential virtues for national progress.
Addressing the current socio-economic and political landscape, the Ooni acknowledged the challenges facing the country, particularly economic hardships and divisions along ethnic and religious lines.
However, he reassured Nigerians that the nation’s strength has always been rooted in its resilience and diversity.
“Our economy faces trials, but our resilience has always been our strength. Ethnic and religious divisions seek to test our unity, but our diversity is our greatest asset,” the monarch stated.
He urged Nigerians to remember their shared history and faith in God as guiding principles in overcoming adversity.
The Ooni stressed the importance of fostering peace and embracing one another beyond tribal and sectarian lines. He reminded citizens that Nigeria thrives when its people stand together, choosing harmony over conflict and inclusivity over division.
“Let this holiday be a moment of renewal—a time to rekindle our commitment to justice, to fairness, and to the shared prosperity of all Nigerians,” he said. “May we remember the essence of sacrifice: that by giving, we receive; by understanding, we heal; and by standing united, we shall overcome.”
The royal father extended his best wishes to the Muslim faithful and all Nigerians, praying that the celebration brings blessings, peace, and progress to the nation.
He called on the people to rise above divisions and work collectively toward building a country where every citizen, regardless of faith or background, enjoys dignity, security, and hope.
“Eid Mubarak to all. May God bless Nigeria,” Ooni concluded.
