The Osun State Amotekun Corps has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against crime, arresting over 40 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, murderers, and ritualists across the state.
Corps Commander, Dr. Omoyele Isaac Adekunle, disclosed this while addressing the media, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.
“We have dealt decisively with these criminals who have been terrorizing the state. Through intelligence-led operations, we raided their hideouts and apprehended individuals involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and other heinous crimes,” he stated.
Dr. Adekunle also lauded the professionalism of Amotekun operatives during the recently concluded local government elections, noting that their proactive measures prevented attempts to disrupt the electoral process.
“I give kudos to my corps for their outstanding professionalism. We successfully checkmated troublemakers and ensured a peaceful election,” he added.
The Amotekun boss highlighted the corps’ strategic collaboration with other security agencies, which has significantly boosted their effectiveness.
He further commended Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his unwavering support, particularly the recruitment of 1,000 additional operatives and the provision of essential logistics to enhance security operations.
“Governor Adeleke’s commitment to security has greatly strengthened our capacity. With his support, we are better equipped to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens,” Dr. Adekunle affirmed.
Reiterating the corps’ dedication to professionalism and community safety, he assured residents that Amotekun would remain steadfast in its mission to rid the state of criminal elements.
The recent arrests underscore the corps’ relentless efforts in combating insecurity, reinforcing its role as a formidable force in protecting Osun State from crime and lawlessness.
