Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed the status of Osun as the most peaceful state in Nigeria, attributing the feat to his administration's unwavering commitment to the rule of law and good governance.
The Governor made this known on Wednesday while delivering a goodwill message at the 88th birthday celebration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Governor Adeleke acknowledged the pivotal role played by the elder statesman in shaping Nigeria's democratic journey, describing him as a father figure whose counsel and guidance have remained invaluable to his administration.
He revealed that Osun's peaceful atmosphere is a product of adherence to Chief Obasanjo's advice to always uphold the rule of law and resist the distractions of forces trying to destabilize the state.
"Osun has reclaimed its position as the most peaceful state in Nigeria by following Baba Obasanjo's advice to stick to the rule of law and not give in to the antics of dark forces working to make the state unsafe," Governor Adeleke stated.
The Governor further praised the former President for his lasting legacies in national development, particularly in the areas of democracy, global peace, and the telecommunications revolution.
The 3-in-1 event featured the presentation of two books and a lecture in honour of the former President, drawing dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.
