Ooni Extends Heartfelt Easter Message, Urges National Unity, Hope, and Responsibility

As Christians across the globe commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Arole Oduduwa Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has extended a powerful Easter message to Christian faithfuls in Nigeria and around the world.

In a deeply reflective message, the revered monarch emphasized the themes of sacrifice, renewal, and love which are the core tenets of the Easter celebration.

“This sacred season reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice, renewal, and the power of love,” the Ooni stated. “Easter is not just a celebration of resurrection, it is a call to embody Christ’s teachings: to love unconditionally, forgive sincerely, and live in service to others.”

The monarch’s message resonated with a strong call to action, urging citizens to reflect on their individual and collective roles in fostering a more just, united, and prosperous Nigeria.

Acknowledging the nation's ongoing challenges, the Ooni drew parallels with the essence of Easter which he described as hope emerging from hardship and light overcoming darkness.

“As we mark this holy period, let us reflect deeply on our personal and collective roles in building a more just, united, and prosperous Nigeria,” he said. “Our nation faces many trials, but like the message of Easter, there is always hope after hardship, light after darkness.”

His Imperial Majesty encouraged Nigerians to both entrust the country into God’s hands and take proactive steps in their daily lives toward national development.

He advocated for the building of communities founded on kindness, peace, and integrity not just for the present generation, but also for those yet unborn.

“I encourage every Nigerian to not only commit the affairs of our beloved country into the hands of God but also rise to do their part no matter how small,” he urged. “Let us build communities founded on kindness, peace, and integrity, for the sake of ourselves and for generations yet unborn.”

Ending his message on a note of national pride and shared responsibility, the Ooni reminded Nigerians that the country is more than a geographical entity but a collective heritage and responsibility.

“Remember, Nigeria is not just a place on the map; it is our home, our heritage, and our responsibility,” he wrote.

He concluded with a prayerful wish that the spirit of Easter would inspire citizens to become better individuals and stewards of the blessings they’ve received.

“May this Easter awaken in us a renewed spirit to be better citizens, better neighbors, and better stewards of the blessings we’ve received. Let us love deeper, serve selflessly, and believe in the possibility of a brighter tomorrow.”

The Easter message has since garnered widespread attention and appreciation online, with many commending the Ooni’s wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to national unity and moral leadership.
