Uphold Peace, Shun Discord - Adeleke Urges Osun Traditional Rulers

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on traditional rulers across the state to maintain their revered roles as custodians of peace and refrain from any actions that could incite disunity or public confrontation.

In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke emphasized that monarchs, as long-standing symbols of harmony and grassroots mediators, must rise above actions capable of sparking acrimony within the state.

“Our royal fathers are the age-long custodians of peace and unity in their respective domains. They are symbols of harmony and serve as grassroots mediators,” the Governor stated. “Whenever we are faced with governance challenges, we often turn to our royal fathers for guidance and intervention.”

He referenced a recent meeting with the State Council of Traditional Rulers, noting the significance of the council in fostering stability and good governance.

Adeleke stressed that the importance of the traditional institution demands that internal disagreements be handled discreetly and not allowed to spill into the public domain.

“We cannot afford a situation where royal fathers are seen openly in conflict with one another. Left unchecked, such conduct may fuel communal tension. I urge our revered monarchs to be mindful of their public utterances in the interest of unity and peaceful coexistence across the state,” the Governor cautioned.

Meanwhile, the statement also disclosed Governor Adeleke’s forthcoming trip to London, where he is slated to participate in a series of high-level investment and cultural engagements.

These include attendance at the prestigious Commonwealth Business Forum and other targeted investment summits aimed at attracting development to Osun State.

As part of his official itinerary, Governor Adeleke will also visit the British Museum to explore collaborative opportunities in the creative and cultural sectors.

The move, according to the statement, is part of ongoing efforts to harness and globally showcase Osun’s rich heritage, arts, and creative talent.

“During his various engagements, the Governor is expected to spotlight Osun State’s reformed investment climate and present the state as a viable destination for strategic partnerships,” the statement added.
