World Olokun Festival Unfolds in Ile-Ife as Yeye Omi Oodua, Her Majesty Olori Afolasade Ashley Adeyeye Ogunwusi Leads Global Celebration

Today, the sacred grounds of Ile-Ife, the cradle of humanity, are alive with spiritual power and ancestral pride as the World Olokun Festival officially begins.

At the forefront of this historic celebration stands Her Majesty Olori Afolasade Ashley Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Yeye Omi Oodua of the Source, who has graciously welcomed Children of the Sacred Waters and the global Yoruba community to partake in this profound gathering of heritage, spirituality, and unity.

Under her inspired leadership, and with the spiritual authority of the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the World Olokun Festival is unfolding as a vibrant homage to Olokun, the Orisha of the deep, custodian of wealth, mysteries, and divine abundance.

Ile-Ife is witnessing a grand convergence of dignitaries, traditional leaders, cultural ambassadors, and spiritual adherents from across the world.

The festival is alive with sacred rites, traditional dances, music, and cultural displays, each act a testament to the enduring strength and beauty of Yoruba cosmology.

In her opening message, Her Majesty Olori Afolasade Ashley Adeyeye Ogunwusi called for unity, joy, and a heartfelt reconnection with ancestral roots, emphasizing the blessings and wisdom bestowed by the sacred forces of Olokun.

Today’s Olokun Festival marks the first half of a grand two-part celebration. The festivities will continue with the World Osara Festival on May 3, 2025, honoring Osara, the revered spirit of fertility, sacred blessings, and abundance.

Through the guidance of Her Majesty Olori Afolasade Ashley Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the supreme spiritual authority of the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Ile-Ife once again reaffirms its eternal role as the Source of Creation and the heartbeat of global Yoruba spirituality.
